We’ve probably all been wondering if Anne Field is okay after the New Zealand earthquakes (and she is). Lin and Ann forwarded me this information from the Greater Vancouver Guild.
The earthquake in Christchurch, New Zealand was devastating–our hearts and thoughts are with the people of New Zealand as they begin the recovery process. We’ve been hearing from readers who want to know if we’ve heard from our spinning colleagues and friends. We’ve heard from some (directly and indirectly)–Margaret Stove and her husband and their immediate family are okay. Anne Field and her husband are also okay. Their houses have been damaged by the quake (and aftershocks), but they are able to stay in them. The Ashfords in Ashburton (about an hour away from Christchurch) are also okay.
Our member Rene is in north New Zealand and reported the following: She says the Art Centre where Anne Field has her studio is on the damaged buildings list, but not the list of buildings with trapped people. The Art Centre had been damaged in the last two earthquakes. Anne’s house is fairly new and beside a park on the north-east side of the city. This was the park they sent evacuees the first night, so hope this is a sign that this part of the city was not so badly damaged.
