Country Celebration at Campbell Valley Park

The annual Country Celebration at Campbell Valley Park is coming up next weekend, September 17th and 18th.  Inta Schorcht is looking for a few volunteers to populate the heritage booth, and do some spinning or other fibre-related activities.  The fair goes from 10 am to 5 pm each day.  You could do a whole day or half a day.  To get to the fair, take 200th Street south to 8th Avenue, and go east to 204th, where the road bends onto 204th.  The entry to the parking area is a wee bit after the bend in the road. There’s usually good signage, too.

Please call Inta

EXPLORING IKAT

The Whatcom Weavers Guild will feature ikat in a presentation by Seiko Purdue at its October meeting.  Ikat is a technique in which warp or weft threads, or both, are tie-dyed before weaving, and it is used extensively in Indonesia, Japan, and other part of Asia. Seiko is an Associate Professor in the Fibers/Fabrics area of the Department of Art at Western Washington University.  She will show some of the design possibilities one can achieve with ikat technique, explain the basic process, and show some examples, including some amazing ikat with pictorial designs, Kurume-kasuri, from her recent travels to Kyushu, Japan.
The meeting will be on Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at St. James Presbyterian Church’s lower level meeting room at 910 14th St. in Bellingham.  Admission is free.

We are now accepting vendor applications for the 2011 “Christmas in Cloverdale: Gift and Craft Marketplace”.  This event features juried vendors selling gift and craft items.  That’s not all though!  For our visitors we have visits with Santa, Joseph the Magician entertaining children of all ages, face painting, food concession etc…  Decorated for the Christmas season with Christmas trees, white lights and more we will be transforming Shannon Hall and the Alice McKay building at the Cloverdale Fairgrounds into a Christmas shopping experience to remember. This exciting event is the largest of it’s kind in Surrey and will be heavily advertised via newspapers, flyers, signage, billboard, online advertising (both paid and unpaid) as well as other means of promotion.   New this year  there will be no admission charged!

In case you are unfamiliar with this venue it is on the very busy 176 Street (Hwy. 15). On the same grounds as the Cloverdale race track and Fraser Downs Casino.   There is ample free parking and it is wheelchair & stroller accessible.

Visit our website to find out how you can be a part of the annual “Christmas in Cloverdale” and reach potential customers  throughout the Lower Mainland.  We offer a convenient online or downloadable (PDF) application form.  Register early and take advantage of free exposure via our website’s featured vendors area.
